The following information is taken from two brochures produced by IAF brought back from the conference by the facilitators in Nis.

THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FACILITATORS

The mission of the International Association of Facilitators is promoting, supporting, and advancing the art and practice of professional facilitation through methods exchange, professional growth, practical research, collegial networking and support services.
The IAF sponsors a network of conferences around the globe. Each year, conferences are held in Africa, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Europe, Latin America, and North America. These conferences are interchange events where the participants share their facilitation knowledge and skill with each other. You can find the latest information about this network of conferences at http://www.iaf-world.org.
A few of the great reasons to join the IAF

  • Network with colleagues: As an IAF member you will meet and exchange ideas with colleagues from all over the world at our conferences. Stay in touch with IAF's online Membership Directory. Participate in IAF list-serves and website communities. IAF members are characteristically open to sharing expertise and mentoring.
  • Access information: IAF provides information on a myriad of facilitation and related topics via our website. Information ranges from news to downloads of specific materials through links to related sites and information in English and Spanish.
  • Professional certification: The IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF) is a credential giving others evidence of your demonstrated facilitation skills. Assessments in core facilitation competencies are now available in Asia, Western Europe and North America and IAF is now actively involved in developing the capability to offer certification in every part of the world.
  • Member website space: As an IAF member you will have a free space on our website to describe your facilitation services (coming soon).
  • Shape the profession: Pioneer in a growing discipline. Participation in IAF sponsored programs is shaping the field of professional facilitation.
  • Contribute to the community: IAF's Community Outreach Strategic Initiative and our Global Facilitators Service Corps (GFSC) alliance support our core values and provide avenues for service.
  • Skills development: IAF offers a variety of opportunities to develop and sharpen your skills through pre-conferences and concurrent sessions offered in conferences around the world. These include topics ranging from methods for beginning facilitators, specific skills for all levels, advanced sessions by experts in the field and think tanks.
  • Conferences: As a member you will have easy access and up-to-date information about local networks and the opportunity to participate in conferences in Europe, Latin America, the Far East, Australia, and other global locations.
  • Career Resources: The IAF website provides a convenient way for people who either need or provide facilitation services to connect with each other. Organizations can post their in-house or contract facilitation job opportunities, and members can post their consulting information. The IAF website also provides links to members' websites for ease of contact.
  • Member discounts: All members receive special rates on IAF-published materials, conference registrations, workshops and certification. Developing countries and groups are also eligible for special rates.
  • Distinguish yourself professionally: Members can utilize and strengthen their leadership skills by serving on the Association Coordinating Team - ACT (the board of directors), participating in the many IAF professional and service projects, becoming a certification assessor and contributing to IAF publications.
